Hopi Seed Jar, circa 1910, Awatobi design elements, unsigned. This pot was probably made for use, rather than for sale. The seed corn stored inside would have been sealed in with a corncob stopper. Ed Wade (4/23/09) noted that this shape (with the flat top) was made by a very accomplished potter, perhaps even Nampeyo, but that the painting is “amateurish.”
