Hopi corn meal basket/pot, unsigned. Pots like these are used by villagers who circle around dancing kachinas and bless them with corn meal. The seller told me the pot was made in Hano by “Delbert,” a man of about 50 years. Perhaps the maker was Delbert J. Fritz. Since this pot is unsigned, it was perhaps originally intended to be used at a dance in Hano plaza. For another corn meal pot with a handle that is about 100 years older, see 2004-03.
