2003-12 Jemez Poster Pain Rain God

Although this figure was probably made in the 1980s, such tourist pieces were made as early as the 1880s. Hayes & Blom (1996:157) suggest that pink clay figures (like 2003-12) were probably made in Jemez, while very similar figures from Tesuque are generally formed from gray clay.

For a poster of several hundred such figures printed for an exhibit at Adobe Gallery in 2004, see reference materials and Dale Anderson (2002).
