2009-02 Bowl with Simple Monochromatic Design

Object ID:
2009-02

Artist:
Melda Garcia Nampeyo

Dimensions:
2.313” h X 4.375” w

Melda is the daughter of Leah (see 1991-04) and sister of Rayvin (see 1992-03) and James (see 1992-08). For another Melda pot, see 2009-05.

Melda was 15 years old when her mother died and she was then raised by her grandmother, Fannie, who taught all three grandchildren how to make pottery. As near as I can tell, Melda made substantial amounts of pottery as a young woman, but I do not see any pots made more recently.

Purchase History:
Purchased on 1/13/09 on eBay from Robert Anderson of Erwinna, PA. He bought the pot from the estate of Lynn Truesdale of Pioneer, Bucks Co., PA, who died in November 2008. Ms. Truesdale was both a collector and dealer.
