The design on this jar is a somewhat linear variation of an old Nampeyo design reproduced on the cover and front page of Collins (1974). The Collins images are from a pot owned by Richard Howard and later sold to Martha Streuver. Full photographs of the Nampeyo pot were taken at Dick Howard’s home and are listed with the entry for 1992-10 by Jean Sahme. Son of Bonnie Chapella and nephew of Jean Sahme, Doyle is thus the great-great-great grandson of “Old Lady” Nampeyo: six generations of potters with a consistency of design. Doyle’s uncle Randall Sahmie also used this design (2008-14).
